Mirka Rivas
Associate Director of Tennis
Mirka Rivas is a USTA-certified tennis professional with extensive experience coaching players of all ages and levels. Before joining WRC, she worked at its sister club, Grand Slam Tennis Club, in Banksville, NY. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Tennis at WRC, where she has successfully expanded the IGNiTE/FiRE junior program. Mirka brings a philosophy that emphasizes enhancing the joy of learning tennis, focusing on the process rather than just the outcomes.
Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Mirka had a distinguished junior tennis career, leading her to play at Northwest Missouri State University, where she held the #1 singles and doubles positions and served as captain of the women’s team. After her playing years, she became an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s teams, earning recognition as ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year and helping guide the women’s team to the NCAA national tournament quarterfinals.
Mirka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics and a Master’s degree in Applied Health and Sports Science.
